Extrusion Machine Operator

Position Title: Extrusion Machine Operator
Number of Openings: 8
Pay Rate: $19.04 per hour
Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts
Schedule: 4 days on / 4 days off
Shift Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM / 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Shift Schedule

This position operates on a 4-on / 4-off rotating schedule across four shifts:
  • Shift A: Day Shift — 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
  • Shift B: Night Shift — 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
  • Shift C: Day Shift — 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
  • Shift D: Night Shift — 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
Employees rotate between day and night shifts. Each time an employee returns from their four scheduled days off, they will switch from days to nights or from nights to days.

Job Summary

The Extrusion Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating and monitoring production and extrusion machinery to manufacture quality products efficiently and according to established specifications. The operator performs routine quality inspections, makes basic machine adjustments, records production information, and maintains a clean and safe work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate production and extrusion machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Set up and prepare machines for production according to work orders and specifications.
  • Monitor machine operation and production processes to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Make routine machine adjustments to maintain production and quality standards.
  • Inspect products during production for defects, dimensions, appearance, and other quality requirements.
  • Use measuring tools and equipment to verify product specifications.
  • Follow work instructions, production procedures, and all applicable safety requirements.
  • Accurately record production quantities, scrap, downtime, quality results, and other required information.
  • Load raw materials and assist with unloading and handling finished products.
  • Perform machine cleaning and routine operator maintenance.
  • Identify equipment problems and report mechanical or production issues to the supervisor or maintenance department.
  • Assist with machine changeovers, setups, and line adjustments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow company safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Work cooperatively with supervisors, coworkers, quality personnel, and maintenance staff.
  • Meet established production, quality, and efficiency standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing or machine operating experience preferred.
  • Willingness to learn machine operation and production processes.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and production specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and work effectively in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work rotating 12-hour day and night shifts.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Bend, stoop, reach, and work around machinery.
  • Lift and move materials as required by the position.
  • Work in an environment with exposure to heat, noise, and moving equipment.
  • Wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and other protective equipment as required.

The Extrusion Machine Operator is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and producing products that meet company and customer quality requirements.
